The California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees approved the renaming of Bulldog Stadium and the Henry Madden Library during its July 13 meeting.
Valley Children’s Healthcare acquired naming rights to Bulldog Stadium following a partnership between the hospital and Fresno State Athletics, which will run for 10 years.
“Both organizations have invested in the health and well-being of youth and families in the San Joaquin Valley for generations,” said Fresno State President Saul Jimenéz-Sandoval.
According to Jimenéz-Sandoval, the partnership will provide $1 million annually for Fresno State student scholarships, alongside operational and facility-related enhancements.
In addition, Jimenéz-Sandoval said the partnership funds will also provide for “other collaborative efforts focused on the university’s work in children’s health specifically.”
The partnership was announced in August 2021 by Jimenéz-Sandoval and Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak and the approval of the name change was initially planned to be determined in November 2021, according to a news release.
“The health and well-being of our children is dependent on organizations like Fresno State and Valley Children’s to invest in their futures and to create new opportunities for them,” said Suntrapak in August.
