Man killed in shooting near Fresno State. Police say very few details available

A 29-year-old man was shot and killed outside a popular housing complex with students near Fresno State early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of San Gabriel and Maple, less than a mile from Fresno State, according to Fresno Police Department Lt. Charlie Chamalbide.

The shooting happened in front of Topanga Ridge Apartments, which houses many Fresno State students.

Chamalbide said the victim was shot several times and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, Chamalbide said.

There are no suspects at this time, according to Chamalbide.
