After testing the NBA draft waters, Fresno State junior forward announced on twitter via Opendorse that he will be returning to play for the Bulldogs.
Robinson attended NBA pre-draft workouts for the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans. He also accepted an invitation to participate in the 2021 NBA G League Elite Camp held June 19-21 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Robinson has still also managed to work out with Fresno State head coach Justin Hutson and the rest of the Bulldog coaching and performance staff members.
“Orlando’s really been working hard, as has the rest of the team, and we’re looking forward to next season,” Hutson said.
Robinson was still eligible to return to the Bulldogs because he did not hire an agent during the pre-draft process.
Robinson is considered by many to be one of the top players in the Mountain West. Last season he was named second team All-Mountain West, NABC All-District 17 selection and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
The junior forward started every single game in his first two seasons averaging 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season. Robinson also has 16 career double-doubles, 11 as a sophomore and five as a freshman. He was also added to the 2022 Karl Malone award preseason watch list, which is given to college basketball’s best power forward.
Fresno State guard Deon Stroud also declared for the 2021 NBA draft but, like Robinson, he did not hire an agent. Stroud has until July 7 to decide to withdraw from the NBA draft or return to Fresno State for his junior season.
