Fresno State responds to woman alleging sex without consent at fraternity party

Fresno State reached out with some advice to a student on Twitter on Wednesday after she posted a video on YouTube alleging a man had sex with her without consent at a fraternity party.

The campus said, “We are very sorry to hear about your experience. No one should ever have to go through something like this. We encourage you to report the incident to the university.  Please DM us and we can connect you with confidential support and resources.”

The campus’ Twitter page responded to the video Wednesday morning after it was uploaded on YouTube and then spread to Twitter.

In the video, the woman, who said she was a Fresno State student and in a sorority, said she had attended a Kappa Sigma fraternity party on Jan. 31. After spending some time at the party, the woman said that she had fallen asleep and awoke to someone having sex with her without her consent.

The woman later said that she was pressured by some of her friends to not report the incident. She then showed a text message from a man she had met at the party who said that someone had possibly drugged their drinks, causing her to black out.

She also recounted another incident at a Super Bowl party two nights later. She said she drank at the party, blacked out and woke up the next morning in a man’s room with a bruise and articles of clothing missing.

She said the man said they were having sex when the woman began to try and fight him off, and eventually they both fell asleep. In the video, a photo of the bruise is shown.

She said she was again pressured not to say anything by her friends, but she did report the incident to Fresno and Sanger police.

In the video, she said the Sanger Police Department arrested one of the men, and he was released on bail. The other man from the first incident has not been found, she said.

The woman said she dropped out of school and her sorority due to the two incidents.
