The Fresno State football season opener is contines to have a big game feel surrounding it as it was announced on Thursday that the ‘Dogs visit to the Los Angeles Coliseum to face the University of Southern California will be televised in prime time on ESPN.

The Pac-12 conference announced in a news release that the Aug. 31 kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PST.

The announcement was a part of the Pac-12 releasing its TV broadcast schedule for the first three weeks of its 2019 football season along with its weeknight games, which included one of the two non conference road games for Fresno State.

On May 2, the Mountain West revealed its initial national broadcast schedule pegging the ‘Dogs for eight TV designations out of a possible 10 games on the table to be selected. The ‘Dogs two out-of-conference contests were left to be set by the host team’s respective conference to round out the 12-game regular-season schedule.

The Bulldogs have three games yet to be announced for broadcasting rights following Thursday’s announcement. Two of those games will be decided by the MW. Fresno State hosts Sacramento State (Sept. 21) and visits Hawaii (Nov. 2). The third will be left to New Mexico State (Sept. 28) to determine as an FBS independent.

The Bulldogs will also have an opportunity to add another game on ESPN, should they make the MW Championship once again, as the MW also announced on Thursday that it and broadcast partner ESPN shared details for the championship game, which will be played Saturday, Dec. 7.

2019 marks the seventh consecutive season the Mountain West has staged a championship game in football. The game features the regular-season winners of the Mountain and West divisions. The divisional champion will host the championship game, which will be determined by the highest win percentage in conference-only games.

And for the fourth consecutive year, the championship game will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 1 p.m. PST.
