Where to get a free flu shot

Fresno County and Fresno State are offering free flu vaccine services.

The influenza season officially began Sept. 30, according to the Fresno County Department of Public Health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that last year’s 2017-2018 influenza vaccine reduced a person’s overall risk for flu-related illness by 40 percent. In addition, last year’s flu-like illness activity reached its peak in November and stayed at a high activity rate through January.

The CDC says the best way to prevent the spread of flu is to get vaccinated every year.

Fresno State students can book an appointment for a free vaccine at the Student Health and Counseling Center by phone or online.

The Fresno County Department of Public Health is offering free flu vaccines at the following locations:

Thursday, Oct. 25 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Fresno Swap Meet

1641 S. Chance Ave.

Tuesday, Oct. 30 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

First 5 Lighthouse for Children

2405 Tulare St., Suite 200
