ASI wants to help you vote

In an effort to increase student voter turnout, Associated Students, Inc. will host several voter registration events on campus in the Free Speech Area on Sept. 26 and 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first event will take place on Wednesday and will focus on registration information. Students who may be unsure of their polling location or their registration eligibility are encouraged to attend and get the information they need to vote or simply to pick up a free fruit cup.

Thursday’s event will feature a student debate on current ballot measures. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about this year’s ballots by listening to other students discuss and debate the issues and gain a better understanding of what each measure means.

ASI is hosting these events as part of a competition among CSU campuses to see which campus can register the most students to vote in an initiative known as the Ballot Bowl, sponsored by the California secretary of state.

Clubs will also have the opportunity to win a free pizza party and ASI “swag” by having students fill out this flyer and submit it to the ASI information table at any of these events. The club with the most flyers submitted by the end of the events will be declared the winner.

Local congressional candidate Andrew Janz will also be on campus on Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, to speak to students about his campaign.
