City of Fresno calls April 19, 2018 ‘Collegian Day’

The City of Fresno on Thursday awarded a proclamation to The Collegian student newspaper, naming April 19, 2018 as “Collegian Day” in the city.

Councilman Paul Caprioglio handed Collegian staff the proclamation. It states that Fresno Mayor Lee Brand and city council members congratulate The Collegian for “sharing with the entire nation the immense talent, creativity and intellect harbored at Fresno State.”

The Collegian recently attended the Associated Collegiate Press Midwinter Convention where they joined student newspapers from across the United States for a three-day journalism conference. The Collegian was awarded for its print and online publications.

The California College Media Association also honored Collegian staffers with awards for writing, advertising and visual work. Overall, The Collegian was awarded nearly one dozen awards at the recent competitions.
