Lawmaker’s Fresno State visit will promote student housing bill

California Assemblywoman Anna Caballero is scheduled to visit Fresno State on Thursday to introduce Assembly Bill 2784, which could implement the Emergency Student Housing Loan Program.

The program aims to address the high cost of student living. It will provide housing to students at California State Universities who are homeless or at risk becoming homeless.

The news conference introducing AB 2784 will take place in the North Gym, Room 118, at 3 p.m.

Other attendees include assemblyman Joaquin Arambula, who is a co-author of the bill; Demi Wack, Associated Students Inc. vice president of external affairs; Mary Castro, first lady of Fresno State; Dr. Frank Lamas, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management; and Kizzy Lopez, coordinator of the Renaissance Scholars.
