Man killed riding dirt bike on Fresno State farmland identified

The man killed in a dirt bike accident on a Fresno State farm Wednesday has been identified as a Fresno State student, the college confirmed.

The man, Joel Talbot, 25, of Ripon, was a senior incrop science production management, Dean of Students Dr. Carolyn Coon said.

The crashhappened in a field near Bullard and Chestnut avenues.

Joggers found the Talbot around 6 a.m. in the field and alerted authorities.

He’dbeen riding the dirt bike in the middle of the night when he hit a post in the dark and was likely killed instantly, Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said. The field often gets people trespassing for these types of things, Gomez said, but they’re generally just asked to leave when they do.

Gomez said the bike didn’t have lights on it.

“Mr. Talbot also was a student employee of the Fresno State farm’s orchard enterprise since September,” Coon said in a press release.
