Student memorialised in social media campaign

Six months after a tragic vehicle collision took the life of Fresno State alumna Molly Griffin, her family wants to honor her by remembering how Molly lived — with kindness.

The family now hopes to make August 26 “Molly Day” and would like the Fresno State community to dedicate the day to random acts of kindness.

“What they would like to do is have people go on any social media and post #LiveLikeMolly along with a picture of their random act of kindness, which is how Molly lived her life — always kind to others,” said Dave Dennis, a family friend and an employee in plant operations.

Molly, 23, graduated with a nursing degree in May, 2014. She was an active member of the California Student Nursing Association and was working as a surgery nurse at the Madera Community Hospital.

Police said a suspected drunken driver who ran a red light on Friant Road caused the collision which ended killed her in February.

“Molly’s father wanted people to focus on, not so much the tragedy of how she was killed, but they wanted people to focus on her and how she lived her life, so this is a way for them to do that,” said Dennis.

A proposal has also been approved to build a bench in Molly’s honor on campus, but the location has yet not been determined.
