A freshman stepped up on Senior Day for the Fresno State lacrosse team.

With six seconds to go, midfielder Lindsay Hobson delivered a shot that hit the back of the net to lift the Bulldogs past Cal for the 11-10 win Sunday afternoon at the Soccer & Lacrosse Field.

“It was an awesome moment,” Hobson said. “You could feel the energy and we all really just wanted that win. In the end, we just all pulled it together and we worked hard and came out with the win.”

Marcy Levatino, one of the two seniors honored Sunday along with Holly Cisneros, shined in her final home game, scoring four goals and recording an assist.

“[The win] just felt perfect,” Levatino said. “I’m so proud of all my teammates and it was good to see the end result of all our hard work throughout the season.”

Levatino’s third and fourth goals, which came back-to-back midway through the second period, provided the Bulldogs with momentum heading down the stretch. The third tied the game at eight each and the fourth served as the lead-clinching score as it gave the ‘Dogs the 9-8 advantage.

“It was all about the ball movement,” she said. “We did what we wanted to do on attack, we made each other open and it allowed me to finish those opportunities.”

Cal would not go down just yet as Golden Bears Gaby Christman and Brynn Gasparino would go on to score the next two goals and give their team the 10-9 lead at around the 10-minute mark. The game remained in Cal’s favor until Fresno State’s Anjelica Fuccillo tied the game with just less than two minutes to go to set up the game-winner.

Cisneros did not play due to a broken wrist suffered a few weeks back that ended her season.

“We’ve all been working hard for Holly,” Levatino said. “She’s a rode model to me and the hardest worker I’ve ever met. There’s no one I would have rather spent these four years with.”

The ‘Dogs’ final two games of the season will be on the road on April 24 and 26 against Colorado and Denver, respectively.

“To end our home season and Senior Day with a win feels great,” head coach Jessica Giglio said. “We just broke another record for most wins in a season (5-8) so far and we still have two games left. It was against a great conference opponent and it’s the first time we’ve ever had two conference wins. We’re just going up and up, and I’m just really excited.”
