Following a seven-game road trip, the Fresno State baseball team was scheduled to return to Beiden Field Tuesday for a chance to end its five-game losing streak.

Instead, rain swamped the Central Valley, forcing the Bulldogs to postpone the nonconference matchup against California, which they topped earlier this season.

The Bulldogs’ next chance to end the string of losses will be Friday at home against Nevada.

Fresno State’s’ current losing streak is the latest swing in a season that has seen plenty of ups and downs.

Almost two months ago, the Bulldogs started the season with a dramatic three-game sweep at home against UC Irvine.

The Bulldogs then traveled to Nevada where they lost three in a row, and the pattern has continued since.

While the ‘Dogs have found comfort at home with a 14-4 record, they have struggled on the road, posting a 2-13 record.

In 18 home games, the ‘Dogs own a .298 team batting average and 2.48 team earned run average. On the road, Fresno State owns a .250 team batting average and a 6.39 team ERA.
Some highlights include victories against nationally ranked teams such as Cal and USC.

With an overall record of 16-17, however, the Bulldogs are still looking to find the consistency they need to compete for a Mountain West division title.

The Bulldogs came into the season relying on the experienced players.
Among those are junior catcher Taylor Ward and senior infield player Manny Argomaniz, who have led the Bulldogs with 38 and 34 hits, respectively.

Sophomore outfielder Austin Guibor has also contributed for the Bulldogs with a batting average of .347 and 11 RBIs.

Guibor continued his strong season on the latest road trip with a team-best .375 batting average (9-for-24).

The Bulldogs will begin their three-game series against the Wolf Pack Friday at 6:35 p.m.
