As this weekend’s storm is came to an end with no major rain expected throughout the week, hopes of a “miracle March” are evaporating.

Wind damage was reported in Reedley, Orange Cove and Squaw Valley where unconfirmed estimates indicate gusts could have blown as fast as 70 mph, causing trees to fall down and power outages in some areas.

Fresno received just over one inch of rain from two storms last week, said Jim Andersen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hanford.

That leaves Fresno’s total precipitation for the water year at just 40 percent of normal. To date, Fresno has received about 3.41 inches of rain, compared to the normal for this time of year which is 7.95.

Forecasts predict warmer temperatures in the 70s throughout the week and no major rainfall. However, long-range models from the National Weather Service anticipate a storm may hit the Valley around March 10.
