After an opening-round 64 gave Nick Watney a firm lead at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, the former Bulldog saw late surge by a trio of opponents and ultimately finished tied for fourth place with Luke Donald.
For the tournament Watney shot a cumulative 278, but could never match his stellar Thursday round. K.J. Choi beat out David Toms in a sudden-death playoff, winning the tournament shooting 2-under in the final round to finish minus-13.
