Lacrosse
The lacrosse season came to an end this weekend with its second winless season.
On Friday night the lacrosse team played its last home game of the season against UC Davis, falling short of giving the home crowd its first win in the program history, diminished 17-1 by the Aggies.
The single goal was made by Heather Jack just minutes into the second half assisted by Allie Zachariades.
The team celebrated Diana Aguilar the line seniors final game on home turf as goal keeper. Last season, she played all 14 games and started 12.
The team traveled to UC Berkley on Saturday for its final game of the season.
The ‘Dogs failed to score against the Golden Bears in their final regular season game, 16-0.
While the team fails to win a single game of its second program season, they will travel to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference tournament on April 29 to face the No. 2 seeded Stanford.

Softball
The Fresno State softball team continued its dominance at home, winning its seventh straight game at Bulldog Diamond. The New Mexico State Aggies fell victim to the ‘Dogs over the weekend by getting swept 3-0.
On Friday, the ‘Dogs won a nail-biter, winning 4-3 in extra innings. The ‘Dogs took both games on Saturday winning 7-6 and 3-1.
Junior third baseman Nicole Angene got things started on Friday with a walk-off home run to begin the series against the Aggies with a win.
Haley Gilleland had a career-setting weekend by becoming Fresno State’s all-time leader in stolen bases with 53 career steals. She had two steals in the series bringing her season total to 16.
The junior team captain also had a dominating performance at the plate. Gilleland went 5-for-9 with two RBIs and a home run.
The team improved its overall record to 33-14 and 12-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. The ‘Dogs will look to extend its winning streak when it travels to Honolulu to play Hawaii.

Women’s Tennis
The Fresno State women’s tennis team fell short to the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday in a hard-fought match at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
Not only was the home duel against the Mustangs the Bulldogs’ final match of the 2010 regular season, it was also senior day for Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova.
No. 95 Kucerkova, made her special day a little more worth it by snagging a 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 victory over No. 100 Suzie Matzenauer.
Kucerkova then teamed up with fellow Bulldog Laura Pola in doubles to defeat No. 32 Brittany Blalock and Matzenauer, 8-3 in doubles.
Freshman Melissa McQueen continued to reign victorious as she finished with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Cal Poly’s Steffi Wong.
The ‘Dogs fell 4-3 to the Mustangs at the end of the day, missing teammates due to injuries, unfortunately.
Fresno State plans to move forward and spend this week preparing for the upcoming WAC Tournament. The Bulldogs will begin first-round play on April 30.

Volleyball
The spring volleyball season concluded its five-month offseason preparation with a California schools tournament held in the North Gym on the Fresno State campus.
Kicking off the tournament strong, the ‘Dogs won both sets against San Francisco State in the two-sets to 25, 60-minute format. Fresno State also split sets 1-1 with Fresno Pacific and Cal Poly. The tournament lasted nearly eight hours on Saturday, but improvements from last season’s 15-16 record were apparent.
The seniors showed leadership and ambition on the court, led by Kasey Van Grouw working all day at the setter position and Kelly Mason at libero. The team worked hard training a on defense, passing and serving.
The Bulldogs will resume play in August for the start of fall training. Head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell returns 11 of her 15 performers from last season.
