Quarterback Ryan Colburn spent the bye week catching up on homework, but he couldn̢۪t help but think about the ̢۪Dogs̢۪ upcoming game at Hawaii.

The sound of football fans yelling for their ‘Dogs wasn’t heard at Bulldog Stadium Saturday night. And the Bulldogs couldn’t be found on any of ESPN’s networks on the road either.

The football team had their scheduled bye week this past week, giving the team a much-needed break Saturday, and it brought different activities for players and coaches.

The Bulldogs̢۪ bye week came before a daunting trip to Hawaii, where coach Pat Hill has only won once in his 13-year tenure. The long road trip to Hawaii, which starts on Thursday, is just one of the many trips that the team has faced this season. The ̢۪Dogs went to Wisconsin and Cincinnati earlier this season.

Not only did this bye week break the team̢۪s normal rhythm, but economic struggles threw a monkey wrench into the equation as well. Team practice had to be rescheduled from Friday to Saturday because of mandatory staff and coach furloughs.

On these mandatory days off, the players didn̢۪t have contact with the coaching staff or use of normal facilities. Players had mixed feelings about the three extra days off.

Wide receiver Marlon Moore was disappointed that the weight room was closed due to the furlough days. “I just couldn’t work out,â€Â he said.

On the other hand, tight end Isaac Kinter said that the furloughs provided a “a couple days off to let the body heal up.â€Â

Quarterback Ryan Colburn use the furlough days to catch up on his studies and thought they were “awesome.â€Â

Here̢۪s what Moore, Kinter and Colburn spent their bye week doing.

Wide receiver Marlon Moore

Moore planned on spending his time off by healing his body.

Moore got to clear his mind and not focus on stress of the past week. Moore had nicks and bruises that needed to heal during the time off, especially after games against Wisconsin, Boise State and Cincinnati.

Like Moore, Hill thought the bye week would be a good time for the players to heal.

“Give the kids a couple days off to get their bodies back,â€Â Hill said.

Tight end Isaac Kinter

Kinter practiced on Saturday and then spent the rest of his weekend with family.

He wanted to focus on his family during the bye week. He visited his parents with his wife and daughter.

“Hanging out with my family,â€Â Kinter said about his plans for the off day.

Quarterback Ryan Colburn

Colburn thought the bye week was a chance to get ready for the upcoming game against Hawaii.

“We’re gonna get a jump start on Hawaii,â€Â Colburn said.

Colburn spent time resting and catching up on his studies, but he still couldn̢۪t help but think forward to the Bulldogs̢۪ game at Hawaii.

“We’ll do some things to really focus on getting ourselves better and making some improvements,â€Â Colburn said.

Now that Greg Alexander is out, if the Bulldogs don’t win by at least two touchdowns, don’t even bother coming back to Fresno. If you can’t even beat Hawaii’s junior college level backup QB, I am going to throw my tv off of my roof. I don’t care if it cost 2 grand. I will not stand for the continued revolting play by the Bulldogs.

All of you need to be locked in the film room and on the practice field to show that you are deserving of being division one football players. I don’t see it. Nobody sees it. I don’t even think your parents see it. They are just laughing all the way to the bank by not having to pay for your tuition.

Pat Hill: Please give up your parking spot and have it relocated to the Fresno County dump. Until you can prove that you can do something, anything of note, you don’t deserve to park your $80,000 Hummer in the parking lot. You should be driving a Pinto for how terrible a job you have done with the Bulldogs. You should personally refund every season ticket holder’s money for who terrible you have done your job. Pure garbage.
