Sports brief: After NCAA Tournament run, ̢۪Dogs lose assistant

Kelsi Bond, a Fresno State women̢۪s basketball assistant coach for the past two seasons, has accepted the head coaching job at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Bond will be replacing Shelly Pond at Southwestern Oklahoma State, who has been the head coach for the last 10 seasons.

Bond is a native Oklamhoman and played high school and college basketball in the state.

Bond was a member of the Bulldog staff for the program̢۪s two best years in school history. The Bulldogs posted two consecutive 20-win seasons and won both the WAC regular-season and tournament titles.

In those two seasons, Fresno State made two trips to the NCAA Tournament, losing both times in the first round.

Bond played college basketball at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla.

She played four years for the Aggies, setting school records in career three-point shooting average and assists.

Bond has also coached at Canton High School, her alma mater.
