Campus radio station showcases concerts

With his stage name of Malcolm Sosa, in his worn plaid shirt and matted hair, he has the look of an artist that has been performing for over three years.

Sosa describes his music as more folksy than the indie sound of Rademacher, the band he performs with.

“It’s a more singer, song-writer style like Bob Dylan or Townes Van Zandt,â€Â Sosa said.

Sosa performs 12-20 solo shows a year and aims to be a part of KFSR̢۪s creative vision.

“I’ve always wanted to become more vibrant with the cultural arts scene at Fresno State,â€Â Sosa said.

The performance is part of the efforts by the campus radio station KFSR 90.7 to breathe new life into the music scene with the broadcast of the nightly Evening Eclectic, live from The Bucket.

The music event will be broadcasting live performances.

KFSR music director Matthew Garcia is trying out the monthly Evening Eclectic Sessions, a live show with a question and answer session afterwards with the musicians.

“It’s going to be like Inside the Actor’s Studio with the artists,â€Â Garcia said.

Creating an awareness on campus is Garcia’s goal for the semester, citing the radio station’s motto of ‘Connecting the Valley’s Creative Community’.

In addition to Sosa, the show will feature indie/folk act Abigail Nolte, whom Garcia compared to Cat Power and hip hop artist IBID.
