‘Suicide Lounge’ rocks Rogue Festival

The sound of laughter, singing and a joyful melody filled the air as a quirky band called the Suicide Lounge captivated audiences. This musical trio, which played at the Rogue Festival, participates regularly in this event that happens once a year.

As a marching band groupie, I sit in on plenty of conversations involving music major terms and inside jokes. As someone who’s never seriously studied music beyond the sixth grade, I usually don’t get any of them. Nevertheless, I continue to listen to these conversations, nodding now and again and giving my band friends the Jim-from-The-Office smile and shrugging my shoulders. I’ve long ago given up trying to understand what most of my musical friends talk about.

Weezer rarities hit, miss in ‘Death to False Metal’

“Death to False Metal” releases less than two months on the heels of Weezer’s “Hurley” and establishes the geek-rock band as an overachiever in the alternative music scene. The band has kept fans guessing with a history of side projects, near breakups and quirky unpredictability. With “Hurley” and the upcoming Nov. 2 release “Death to False Metal,” Weezer embarks on a new chapter, switching from their old label, Universal, to join the indie ranks at Epitaph.

Band celebrates Centennial

In honor of Fresno State’s centennial celebration, alumni and current marching band members put on a show at Bulldog Stadium for the homecoming day celebration on Saturday during halftime. According to Dr. Tim Anderson, Director of the Marching Band, 140 marching band alumni members participated by performing at halftime. Alumni from the past 30 years were also represented in the band.
