The creative efforts of Fresno State’s art faculty are on display in the Conley Art Gallery’s current show “Synchronicity.”
“Synchronicity” is meshing of the faculty to create a higher consciousness of the potentials in art,” said lecturer Joe Morel.
There are about 30 pieces of art in the show, said Chris Morgan, a drawing and painting instructor at Fresno State.
The work is representative of most of the faculty in the art department. “Pretty much everyone who wanted to, established and new people coming in” have pieces in the show, said art major Aloma Saccomano.
Oil painting, water color, screen printing, metal, ceramic, glass, DVD, and digital printpieces are just some of the types of art in the show, Morgan said.
Glass has become a very popular material to work with, Morgan said. “The glass program is really exploding on campus. It’s really popular,” there are a number of pieces in the gallery that incorporate glass, Morgan said.
There is a lot of planning and work involved to put together a show, said Steven Borba, an art major. “Everyone in art gallery tech helped in some way. Some people painted palettes,” Borba said. Borba said it took one week to register the art pieces and print the labels. “Lighting took a really long time,” Borba said. The sculptures also had to be measured and placed, Borba said.
The faculty show runs through March 2. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. During operating hours, someone is always here to answer questions or give a tour, Saccomano said.
