Mens Basketball

Dominic McGuire and Quinton Hosley both had double-doubles, but it was Ja’Vance Coleman’s nine overtime points that helped lift the Bulldogs to a 72-70 win at Idaho.

The overtime victory was the Bulldogs first conference road win of the season and it moved the Bulldogs into fourth place in the WAC standings.

Fresno State returns home for a three-game home stand against WAC leader’s Nevada and New Mexico State.

Womens Tennis

It took a late victory from Fresno State freshman Vanessa Heroux to rally the No. 23 Bulldogs past Arizona Saturday as the Bulldogs knocked off the Wildcats 4-3 in Tucson, Ariz.

Heroux defeated Arizona’s Natalia Toporowska in three sets, 6-2, 0-6, 7-5, giving the Bulldogs the victory, despite the fact they lost the doubles point earlier in the day to the Wildcats.

The win improves the Bulldogs’ record to 2-1 on the season as they prepare to take on two nationally-ranked teams Feb. 9-10.

Equestrian

The Fresno State equestrian team rode into Texas over the weekend and showed that a school in Central California can do things pretty big too as they knocked off SMU and TCU in a pair of matches on Sunday.

Bulldogs junior Cambria Kissell earned MVP honors in both matches for Fresno State, who defeated the Mustangs 9-3 and the Horned Frogs in an 8-8 tie-breaker.

The tie-breaker consisted of the total amount of points scored in four areas of competiton, won by the Bulldogs 1,161-1,059.5.

Mens Tennis

The Fresno State men’s tennis team dropped a disappointing 5-2 loss to No. 14 Oklahoma State on Sunday.

The Bulldogs lost all three doubles matches and only won two out of six singles matches.

Fresno State’s Jakub Cech, ranked No. 26 nationally, lost to Oleksandr Nedovyesov 6-0, 6-2.

Freshman Mirko Zapletal rebounded after losing the first set of his singles match to defeat Nathan Byrnes 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Freshman Tejesvi Veerepalli also won in three sets. Veerepalli defeated Artie Burmistrau 6-3, 0-6, 6-3.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 2-2 overall as they return home to host Pepperdine on Wednesday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
