Teazer brews up study-friendly atmosphere

With 2007 in motion, students who packed on the “Freshman 15” or any other miscellaneous weight last year may have made the goal of consuming healthier alternatives.
It’s a tough resolution to keep because there’s only so much time available to college students with a full day’s schedule of school, work and other activities.
A great place to get something to satisfy your appetite and get some of your homework done is Teazer World Tea Market.
Teazer is located in the Tower District at 645 E. Olive. The welcoming environment would remind anyone of their own home with its warm and soothing ambience and great variety of tea and healthy food choices.
Along with all of those qualities, it also creates a great place for students who need time to study or anyone seeking some peace and quiet.
As you approach the shop, there’s a small seating area outside. Upon entrance, there’s a bar that seats three to four people and there are many other seats with tables for small groups.
The décor is inspired by a couple of different cultures, such as Japanese and Indian, and the variety of tea is impressive.
Teazer offers everything: fruit tea, mint tea, black and green tea and serves it in small tea cups for a homey feel or plastic cups for on-the-go people.
Fresno State mathematics graduate student, Alan Sarkisian frequents Teazer for its high quality. He’s been a dedicated customer for close to a year and a half and he enjoys going to study at Teazer because of its comfortable atmosphere.
“It’s a very inviting place where I can feel relaxed,” Sarkisian said.
Even when he doesn’t need to study, he visits the tea shop because they have more than just tea.
They also have art hops on occasion which provides locals with the opportunity to showcase their artistic ability.
Some of the more popular works of art decorate the interior of the shop and are even made available for purchase.
Besides being a great place to study, Teazer also has just about any tea you could wish for and it’s offered at a reasonable price.
Sarkisian’s top three are the Congou-Lychee Hot Tea, Cherry Rose Herbal Tea and the One Hundred Monkeys White Tea.
Teazer is also great for anyone that prefers the alternative to coffee because of its healthier qualities.
Liberal studies major Christian Maldonado makes the trip all the way from his residence in north Fresno to visit Teazer.
He used to drink coffee on a regular basis but decided to switch to tea because it’s healthier and he was ready for something different than the norm.
During one of Maldonado’s trips to the shop, he was informed about how tea is made and which ones are better for you.
“All of the tea goes through certain levels of oxidation,” Maldonado said, “and healthier ones are lighter in color.”
Even though other coffee houses provide tea, he prefers to make the trip to Teazer because of its pleasant surroundings.
“The people that work here are nicer and it has more of a caring kind of feel,” Maldonado said.
