The 2006 WAC men’s and women’s cross country championships will be coming to Fresno this Sunday.

The competition will take place at Woodward Park, which is said to be one of the nation’s premier cross-country venues.

The park last hosted the 2004 NCAA Western Regional Championships.

The men’s competition, which includes Fresno State’s squad, will begin an 8,000-meter competition at 9 a.m. while the women will start a 5,000-meter race at 10 a.m.

An awards ceremony will follow the event.

In the Fresno State women’s team’s last meet at Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday, senior Zinzi Evans placed 18th, leading the team to a sixth-place overall finish.

A total of six Fresno State athletes finished in the top 50 of the competition.

The event marked the end of the regular season for the Bulldogs.
