Stating the Obvious...

A full 31 thumbs down to the football team for Saturday’s homecoming loss to Hawaii. You know the game’s going badly when fans start leaving before the third quarter. Does anyone even remember what it was like to have a winning season?

Thumbs down to the university for closing an entrance to the Student Recreation Center on Woodrow Avenue, forcing students to walk all the way to the crosswalk at Shaw to get into the facility. We may be trying to get to the rec center to work out — but that doesn’t mean we should have to walk to get there.

Thumbs up to all the students who visited the polls to cast their ballots during early voting last week. Good to see someone still cares.

Thumbs down to pedestrians crossing the street without looking. Pedestrians have the right of way at crosswalks — and when they’re paying attention. Turn down the iPod and look both ways, folks.

Thumbs up to the campus Farm Market for expanding its selection of fine meats to include rabbit. Apparently the market not only now sells whole rabbits for your culinary pleasure but also some excellent rabbit sausage. Way to go, Thumper, for making your way onto our dinner tables.

"Stating the Obvious..." is culled each week from discussions in The Collegian newsroom
