The Fresno State women’s volleyball team fell to the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Sunday.

With the win, Hawaii moves to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Bulldogs’ defense was strong throughout the three-game match but was overwhelmed by Hawaii’s offensive maneuvers, with the team ending the match with a high hit .352 record.

Fresno State entered game one with the score tied at 4-4, thanks to a kill by Angela Wiggens, but fell behind and was unable to make a comeback. The game ended as a 30-21 Hawaii win.

Game two saw an increased defense by the Rainbow Wahine, who made 45 digs overall and were able to stop Fresno State’s attacks. Hawaii scored only nine kills in the second game but managed to defeat the Bulldogs 30-21.

The third game saw Hawaii take an early 6-1 lead. Fresno State tried to keep up, at one point coming within four of the Rainbow Wahine. However, Hawaii pulled away to take the game.

Fresno State was led in kills by freshman Angela Wiggins, whose 10 kills give her a total of 71 on the young season.

The Bulldogs will next take on Fresno Pacific at home on Wednesday before playing Hawaii again on Friday.
