AS postpones vote to refund Sikh Student Association

The AS Senate decided to sit on an appeal from Fresno State’s Sikh Student Association Wednesday, placing the item on the Dec. 1 meeting’s agenda.

The appeal stems from a Sikh Association activity that occurred Nov 13., 2004 in the University Student Union. “Punjab Night” cost the club $1,140 for use of the facility, according to AS.

“When they submitted an expense form they did not submit an account agreement form,” said AS Vice President of Finances Esmeralda Santos.

Without the latter document, the club could not be reimbursed. When an account agreement form was finally submitted later in 2005, the Sikh Association had already paid for use of the facility, Santos said, and AS could not repay the club.

On Nov. 3 the AS finance committee approved a $1,000 reimbursement for the club, and recommended the Senate approve the remaining $140.

The Senate also voted in John Migliazzo as the new Personnel Committee chair. Karbassi tendered his resignation from the post Monday, and declined to say why.
