Brazilian pianist to play tonight
Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Cohen will play tonight at the Concert Hall
as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts series. The event
starts at 8 p.m.
Cohen, who brings a very genuine style of music, won first prize at the
1972 Busoni International Competition in Italy. He has worked with such
acclaimed conductors as Kurt Masur, Klaus Tennstedt, Kurt Sanderling and
Yehudi Menuhin.
As reported in the Fresno Bee, his concert will combine works by Brazilian
composers with Romantic works, including Liszt’s Spanish Rhapsody
and Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28. It will also include the works
of Brazilian compers Alberto Nepomuceno, Radames Gnattali, Luiz Levy,
Grancisco Braga and Ernesto Nazareth.
Ticket prices are $12.50 for general admission, $7 for seniors and $5

To audition, or not to audition?
The theatre arts department will hold auditions for Henry IV, Part 1 on
Thursday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 7 p.m. in the John Wright Theatre. Terry
Miller will direct the play.
Each session will begin with an hour of fight workshop/audition, and then
performers will be given scenes to read. These scenes are likely to include
Act II, Scenes 3 and 4; Act III, Scene 1; and Act V, Scenes 2 and 3.
The callback audition will be on Monday at 4 p.m.
