Brazilian pianist to play tonight

Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Cohen will play tonight at the Concert Hall as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts series. The event starts at 8 p.m.

Cohen, who brings a very genuine style of music, won first prize at the 1972 Busoni International Competition in Italy. He has worked with such acclaimed conductors as Kurt Masur, Klaus Tennstedt, Kurt Sanderling and Yehudi Menuhin.

As reported in the Fresno Bee, his concert will combine works by Brazilian composers with Romantic works, including Liszt’s Spanish Rhapsody and Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28. It will also include the works of Brazilian compers Alberto Nepomuceno, Radames Gnattali, Luiz Levy, Grancisco Braga and Ernesto Nazareth.

Ticket prices are $12.50 for general admission, $7 for seniors and $5 for students. For more information, call 278-2337.
