Panda Express hits food court

“Good food and good service” is what Fresno State students
are saying about Panda Express, which opened Monday at the University
Student Union food court. Panda Express serves a variety of Americanized
Chinese food, such as chow mein, orange chicken and fried rice.
“Fresno State is excited to have a reputable franchise partner,”
said Paul Idsvoog, campus director of Food Services.
Since Panda Express' grand opening Monday, Kathy Vang said time
at work goes by fast. "You gotta be fast, you gotta be
quick and you gotta call out the food on time," she said.

Idsvoog said the high demand for other franchises from students is the
reason why Panda Express was chosen. Idsvoog also said he anticipates
the business will do well, because it is recognized and respected. Panda
Express will balance the varieties of on-campus restaurants, so students
don’t have to go off campus to eat, Idsvoog said.
Some students said the restaurant is definitely needed on campus because
it provides more choices and serves good food.
Both Becky Warmerdam, a senior majoring in recreation therapy and Gary
Warmerdam, an undeclared student said, the service is fast, friendly and
polite.
Other students, like Shalyne Van Worth and Lindsey Minor, both sophomores,
said the food is as good as other Panda Express franchises in Fresno.
When it comes to prices, sophomore engineering major Masoud Sabourzadeh
said, “students should have discounts.”
International student Ashish Trikha agrees that the prices are too high.
When students were asked to rate Panda Express in terms of quality and
service on a scale from one to 10, the majority gave it an 8.5.
