Five thousand and five hundred crowd-surfing, rock ’n’ roll
youth showed for Wednesday night’s concert at Selland Arena which
featured the bands Fall Out Boy, Matchbook Romance, Taking Back Sunday,
and headling band Yellowcard.
Fans of Yellowcard, like Marisa Krystan who drove from San Luis Obispo
to attend last night’s show, were eager for this tour to start.
“I’ve been listening to this band for three years now and
I love their energy and the way they connect with their fans,” said
Krystan.
Fifteen-year-old Keaton Williams convinced his dad Neil to drive him to
the show from their hometown of Turlock.
“The band has a real unique sound, a lot of stage presence, and
some of the band members do back flips on stage,” said Williams.
The show was William’s first real concert. His father said his first
concert was AC/DC back in the 70’s.
According to 23-year-old lead vocalist of Yellowcard, Ryan Key, Wednesday
night’s show was opening night of their tour that will last through
the end of November.
“I’m hella nervous and excited all at the same time,”
Key said back stage before going on.
The band’s next stop on the tour is in Las Vegas.
The Fresno Convention Center will also host KRZR’s Birthday Bash
featuring Korn amd Chevyelle Nov. 10. Tony Bennet, David Copperfield,
and Steven Curtis Chapman are also set to perform at the Selland Arena.
