Malfunction leads to hand count for AS election results

Friday count reveals increased voter turnout, Fagundes as winner of presidential race

Despite mechanical malfunctions and a seven-year high of 1,826 ballots to count by hand, Vice President of Associated Students Molly Fagundes emerged as the winner of the AS presidential election. The unofficial total has Fagundes wining by a large margin with 830 votes. Business major and former Fresno city council candidate Michael Karbassi had 444 votes, and Sigma Chi president Frank Puccio had 420 votes.More>>

 

Evidence of water on Mars viewable from Downing Planetarium

Some may disagree with him. Others may wish to share their distant memories of being abducted by aliens. One fact remains–Steven White, director of Fresno State’s Downing Planetarium, believes in the possibility of extraterrestrial life. “It seems almost impossible that there is life only here on Earth,” he said. “With 100 billion galaxies, 100 billion stars and with planets outside our solar system, life in space is inevitable.”More>>

 

Senator advocates acknowledgment of Armenian Genocide

In an emotionally charged ceremony, Sen. Chuck Poochigian called for acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the Free Speech Area, Friday. “ April 24 represents a massacre of our people,” Poochigian said. “ Today represents 89 years of remembering an act by a young Turkish government, a sadistic people, who arrested and murdered our people in Constantinople,” Poochigian said. Poochigian choked back emotion as he described the effects the genocide had on his culture and family.More>>
