AS President says he isn't running for a second term

Gibson wants to get involved in other aspects of the university

Associated Students President Neil Gibson will not seek reelection next year.

Gibson issued an official statement Tuesday night explaining his decision.

Gibson stated he wanted to become more involved with other aspects of student leadership. He also wanted to become more involved in his church as well as community service.

Gibson also expressed support for self-imposed term limits, which was an additional consideration in his decision.

“ The beauty of a student government is that new ideas can constantly be brought to the table, and that all students have an opportunity to develop their leadership potential through this organization,” Gibson said.

Gibson said he has enjoyed his tenure as president and his experiences serving the university community.

“ This has been a wonderful experience to make a difference at our university for students,” he said. “I am truly honored to have an oppurtunity to serve the 21,000 students at our university.”
