Renowned physicist to speak at lecture series

Caltech professor and author Kip S. Thorne will speak at the Satellite Student Union Tuesday as part of the University Lecture Series.

Thorne’s lecture, “Probing Black Holes and the Big Bang with Gravitational Waves,” starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Thorne’s research centers around Einstein’s general theory of relativity and on astrophysics, and focuses on relativistic stars, black holes, and gravitational waves.

Thorne received his bachelor’s degree from Caltech in 1962 and his doctorate from Princeton University in 1965.
