Men's tennis gets a win
The Fresno State men’s tennis team won 6-1 over visiting BYU Thursday. Fresno State swept the singles competition. In the No. 1 singles match, Greg Shearer defeated No. 81 Erik Nyman 5-7, 6-5, (10-5). Shearer and Jakub Cech lost their doubles match to Nyman and Nima Roshan, 8-4. The only Bulldogs duo to win in three doubles matches was Stefan Suta and Sergui Modoc, defeating BYU’s No. 2 doubles team 8-5. Women’s Tennis The 20th-ranked women’s tennis team travels to Westwood to take on No. 11 UCLA today. The Bulldogs will then move on to Malibu to face No. 42 Pepperdine on Saturday. The two matches begin a stretch of seven away matches against ranked opponents. Fresno State is 1-0 after defeating No. 56 TCU 5-2 in the dual match opener Jan. 15. Track and Field Fresno State will open its outdoor track and field season this weekend at the Lee Adams/CSU Bakersfield Roadrunner Invitational. The Bulldogs women will take the momentum gained in last weekend’s second-place finish at the Wolf Pack Invitational in Reno, Nev. The women will also travel to the WAC Indoor Championships in Boise, Idaho Feb. 26-28. Women’s Soccer With an average of 1,607 fans per match, the Fresno State women’s soccer team ranked third in the nation in attendance. The third-place finish was enough to rank higher than national champion North Carolina, NCAA semifinalist UConn and many more. |
