Fresno State student stabbed Sunday near campusA 23-year-old Fresno State student is in the hospital after being stabbed in the back several times Sunday. The incident happened after a party in an apartment complex at Bulldog Lane after a fight over a beer dispute. According to The Fresno Bee, police said skirmishes started after Brian Jefferson, 20, and Verlee Ruff, known gang members who had not been invited to the party, allegedly took beer from two men who had not yet left the party. The student and Jefferson exchanged punches in a Taco Bell parking lot on Cedar Avenue, The Fresno Bee reported. Jefferson and Ruff ran from the fight to their car on Shaw and Barton avenues. Police said the student and his friend allegedly followed Jefferson and Ruff to their car and started throwing bottles and cans breaking the windows of the Jefferson’s Chevloret Camaro, according to The Fresno Bee. A fight broke out again and Jefferson allegedly got a knife and stabbed the 23-year-old with a 3-inch knife twice in the lower back and escaped in a car. Police chased them down and caught up with them between Fresno Avenue and A Street, The Fresno Bee reported. Jefferson was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Ruff was also booked on suspicion of aiding in a felony. |
