Female film festival hits Fresno StateWomen interested in exploring their minds, bodies and souls, might want to participate in Lunafest 2003 Fresno. Lunafest is a national film festival dedicated to providing nationwide exposure for emerging female filmmakers analyzing women’s issues. The event takes place Tuesday at 7 p.m. in University Center, Room 200, above Round Table Pizza. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for general admission. Lunafest, in its third year, is coming to Fresno for the first time this fall. Since the festival was founded in 2001, it has served as a non-profit organization, raising more than $25,500 for the Breast Cancer Fund. Luna, a mineral bar designed for women to receive an efficient amount of vitamins and minerals, sponsors Lunafest. It contains folic acid, soy protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals that are essential and important to a woman’s everyday health needs. It was created to help women obtain more of the nutrients often lacking in their meal plans. There will be six short films shown at Lunafest this fall. They are the following: “Barrier Device,” “Kissed by Angels,” “Judy’s Time,” “Colorforms,” “Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness,” and “Remembrance.” The films are dedicated to a variety of genres, and range anywhere from documentaries to animated short films, to dance narratives. The films cover a diverse range of topics and incorporate issues such as sexuality, spirituality, cultural diversity, body image, environment and women’s health. Lunafest 2003 will be a very exciting event dedicated to analyzing and critiquing women of the new millennium. It is important that women understand the importance of maintaining overall health and wellness, and Lunafest will provide that opportunity. |
