Swimming and Diving

Fresno State's Lindsay Taunton attempts a dive in Fresno State's dual-meet loss to Nevada on Saturday.

The Fresno State swimming and diving team lost to Nevada 186-109 Saturday in its first meet of the season at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex.

The Bulldogs lost the 400 medley relay, 100 and 200 breaststroke, and the 100 butterfly but did have success in the freestyle.

Melissa Johnson had three first place finishes. Johnson led the pack in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles. Dana Shaw won the 500 freestyle and Lindsay Palmberg took the 100 freestyle.

Nevada’s Christine Lachman led the way in diving with two first place finishes.

Fresno State’s next meet will be Saturday, Nov. 15 at California.

Women’s soccer

Fresno State had its three-game win streak ended at Hawaii, where the Bulldogs dropped a WAC contest 3-0 Saturday.

The Bulldogs outshot Hawaii, 22-16—led with six by senior Erin Sayegusa (Honolulu, Hawaii) in Sayegusa’s homecoming.

But none of the shots crossed the line, and Hawaii’s Natasha Kai tallied her fourth hat trick of the season to comprise the scoring.

The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season at home next week when they host Tulsa on Thursday and Rice on Sunday.
