The rush of the flush
By Adrian Rodriguez Matt Green, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon joined hundreds of toilets and urinals flushed within a span of 10 minutes at the Save Mart Center Tuesday afternoon, sending thousands of gallons of water down the drain. It was all part of an effort to make sure that when the real deal occurs, the arena’s 256 toilets, 89 urinals and 230 sinks won’t overflow. The university requested 75 to 100 students, most of whom came from student organizations such as Associated Students, Inc., University Student Union and academic fraternity ranks, to participate in the mass flushing. And most of the students who showed up said they were more than happy to lend their flushing arm to the task. Ross Sprague, a sophomore with an undeclared major, said it wasn’t true that he came to the flushfest just to see the inside of the arena, scheduled to open Oct. 27. “ That’s false— we got the free T-shirts also,” he said. |
