Intramurals catching on

Senior liberal studies major Julie Vincent makes the first of two touchdown catches in the recreation department’s 28-0 victory over the Associated Students in the coed intramural flag football opener Tuesday afternoon.

There are 40 intramural flag football teams this year, one more than last year’s total, but intramural director Bart Ballard said there are still openings for two more teams Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Flag football teams play six-on-six for two 20-minute halfs Tuesday through Friday on the grass fields between Bulldog Diamond and the staff parking lot in front of the North Gym.

Ballard said sign-ups also start this week for the Tuesday night intramural volleyball league, which starts Oct. 7.
