Job Descriptions:
Section Editor (News, Arts & Entertainment, Sports):
Responsible for coordinating with reporters on story assignments, story ideas and editing stories for each respective section. Also responsible for story coverage within own section. Familiarity with journalistic structure, reporting, AP Style and InDesign encouraged. Completion of MCJ 2 (Media Writing), MCJ 104 (Digital Editing) and MCJ 105 (Newspaper Practicum) encouraged.
Staff Reporter:
Responsible for conducting interviews and writing stories assigned by respective section editors. May be asked to write for single or multiple sections. Work on multiple stories with weekly deadlines. Minimum six hours a week. Familiarity with AP Style and journalistic structure encouraged. Completion of MCJ 2 (Media Writing) and MCJ 105 (Newspaper Practicum) encouraged.
Photographer:
Responsible for photo coverage of news, features and sports events, as well as writes captions and assembles photo galleries. Familiarity with Photoshop highly encouraged.
Multimedia Reporter:
Shoots and edits multimedia video packages and photos for news, features and sports. Responsible for own story ideas and pitches for multimedia packages. Helps drive social media. Familiarity with Premiere Pro highly encouraged.
Webmaster:
Manages The Collegian website, including creating original online content. Responsible for overseeing the Collegian’s push notifications and newsletters. Experience and/or interest in creating special story layouts is a plus. Recommended to have skills in web design, headlines, website development and graphic design.

The Collegian is open to all majors at Fresno State.
