Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, located in Coarsegold, is opening the Valley’s first Topgolf experience with the Topgolf Swing Suite in April.
“I am so excited, I just found out and it made my whole day,” said Makenna Deeth, a Media, Communications and Journalism student at Fresno State. “I can’t wait to go.”
Topgolf is a sports entertainment center that has amassed over 90 locations since its opening in the United States in 2005. No matter the skill level, all can play and enjoy the various entertainment options, including food, drinks, lounges and big TV screens to watch sports games.
With Topgolf rising in popularity, the company decided to introduce the Topgolf Swing Suite in 2017 for locations that are unable to afford or map out the traditional outdoor suite.
The Topgolf Swing Suite serves as a recreation of the traditional Topgolf outdoor club sites. The Swing Suite is indoors and uses Full Swing technology to mimic the outdoor experience. There are food and drinks offered, as well as a lounge area.
Visitors can play over 50 golf courses and enjoy a variety of different games, such as football, dodgeball, soccer and hockey.
Talks about potentially opening a Topgolf experience in Fresno have been going on since last year, when Fresno City Councilmember Annalisa Perea discussed an interest in opening a location in Fresno at a city budget hearing.
Although the Topgolf Swing Suite didn’t make it in Fresno, it is still relatively close, with the drive from Fresno State being around 45 minutes.
Deeth is from Gilroy, which is about 45 minutes from the San Jose Topgolf location, the current closest location to Fresno.
“I have a Topgolf back at home, but I don’t live at home anymore, so I’ve been looking for one to go to, and I think that’s just a great addition to Fresno,” Deeth said.
Information on the Topgolf Swing Suite’s exact opening date, prices and hours are still pending. For now, golfers can anticipate a Topgolf location that is close by and practice their swing to prepare.
