Former Fresno State men’s basketball player Steven Vasquez Jr. is no longer on the San Jose State men’s basketball roster.
Several Fresno State players have been dropped from the roster or withheld from competition within the past week. While there is no indication that the dismissals are connected to the San Jose State situation, it does appear to be a trend among Bulldogs and former Bulldogs.
Vasquez Jr. was a former walk-on and spent three seasons with Fresno State from 2021-2024.
In his last season with the ‘Dogs, he averaged just 4.6 minutes per game in nine games played.
This season, Vasquez Jr. played in 11 games for the Spartans averaging 8.7 minutes per game.
He last played on Feb. 11, in the loss to San Diego State University.
Vasquez Jr. is no longer seen on the Spartan’s website and is also not in the box score of their last game against UNLV.

The Collegian attempted to reach out to the San Jose State athletic director, Jeff Konya, but he did not make a comment.
Notably, two other former Bulldogs are still on the San Jose State roster.
Guard Donavan Yap also spent the last three seasons playing for the Bulldogs before transferring to San Jose State this season.
Yap is in his first year with the Spartans and is averaging 9 points per game in 30 games played.
Center Robert Vaihola was with the Bulldogs for just the 2021-22 season. He averaged 6.9 minutes per game in 22 games played for the ‘Dogs.
Vaihola has spent the last two seasons with the Spartans. This season, Vaihola has started in all 27 games he’s played in and is averaging 7.5 points per game.
The Bulldogs will close out their season against the Spartans on Saturday, March 8, at the Provident Credit Union Event Center at 2 p.m.
