Skip the corsages and slow dances — Punk Prom is flipping the script! Spotlight Events is hosting the event on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 8 p.m. to 11p.m. at the Satellite Student Union for a night of punk-inspired fun.

At 8:30 p.m., Mindless Society, a local pop-punk band, will take the stage and keep the energy high all night long. The live music will be complemented by a disco ball and lights, setting the perfect punk prom atmosphere. The evening will also feature a dirty soda bar, temporary tattoo station, a bracelet-making station and a photo booth.

The custom Dirty Soda Bar menu will include specialty drinks like “The Mindless Society Special,” “Misery Business,” “Sk8ter Boi” and several others.

After the show, students are welcome to hang out with Mindless Society at a meet and greet, take photos and even pick up some cool merch at their table.

As students shuffle out, they’ll be treated to a special sweet treat: red velvet or confetti “bundtinis” from Nothing Bundt Cakes, topped with a custom punk-themed cake topper designed by the Spotlight Events team.

“Our team has had this event on our minds since Last November, when Leslie Gonzalez, one of our Student Event Coordinators, was inspired to host an Emo Night after NACA Riverside. During our winter meetings, she presented the idea and since then it has evolved to punk prom,” said Bianca Palma, Spotlight Events advisor. “It has been a blast seeing all of our team’s ideas and effort come together and with Leslie leading this event, I know it’s gonna be a great one. We hope students love it.”

Students are encouraged to dress to the theme or, as Nirvana would say, “Come as you are.”

This event is free and open to all current Fresno State students.
