Valentine’s Day is often seen as a day that revolves around romantic love and relationships; however, it extends far beyond that. This is a love letter that I believe Jesus Christ would write to all humanity: a love from Him that is the greatest love of all. It is to remind us that we are deeply cherished and valued by Him. This letter is for everyone, whether you are single or in a relationship. 

My Child,

I created you. I see you. I know you. Before you ever took your first breath, I loved you.

I understand that this day may be dreadful for you. I can see all of the hurt, pain and brokenness that you have endured. 

I know that you long for a love that is unlike any other, yet the betrayal and lack of care has caused you to develop a hardened heart towards a day like today.

I want to remind you that you are not unseen, you are not unworthy and you are not unwanted.

You are beautifully and wonderfully made. I know you like no one else knows you. I know the amount of hairs on your head and the deepest desires of your heart.

Do not allow yourself to succumb to the loneliness or lies that you may have experienced in the past. Turn your face towards me and I will give you the love and rest that you are longing for. 

Love from other humans will fail you. Promises will be broken, expectations will not be met, tears will be shed. This is not to tell you that those in your life do not love you. However, you cannot rely on another person for the type of perfect, blemish-free love that I can offer you.

I have proved to you the most perfect, sacrificial love by laying my life down for you. I endured the pain and agony of the cross, with you in mind. I chose to accept this fate for myself, not because I had to, but because I wanted to.

I did so to bridge the gap between you and I, so that no sin or death could ever separate us.

As today is a celebration of love, remember my love for you. As you spend this day with the person whom you love, with family or with friends, remember the endless love that I have for you. This love does not have to be earned and it will never be taken away from you. My love for you is agape, it is unconditional and never-ending.

If your heart is aching, talk to me. You are not forgotten or alone. I do not care about the mistakes of your past. Nothing disqualifies you from being close to me.

If you feel like there is no love for you today, I want to remind you that there is. You do not even need to search for it. I am here, knocking on the door of your heart. All you have to do is let me in and accept my love.
