When the Fresno State football team plays its bowl game later this month, the roster will look a little bit different.
Quarterback Mikey Keene announced this morning that he will be entering the transfer portal, which will officially open tomorrow, Dec. 4.
In two seasons at Fresno State, Keene completed 68.7% of his passes for 5,868 yards and 42 touchdowns. He also threw 21 interceptions.
Backup Joshua Wood is expected to start in his place during the bowl game. Wood has five rushing touchdowns this season, but he has only attempted five passes this season.
Keene is the latest in a slew of players to announce their intent to transfer since the ‘Dogs loss to UCLA on Saturday.
Linebacker Phoenix Jackson, defensive linemen Gavriel Lightfoot and Julius Gandy, cornerbacks Al’zillion Hamilton and Justin Houston, wide receiver Antoine Sullivan and tight end Kameron Beachem have also expressed their intent to enter the portal once it officially opens.
Jackson, Lightfoot and Hamilton were all key starters for the Bulldogs this season. Them leaving will open up playing time for others throughout the roster for both the bowl game and next season.
