Seven former Bulldogs played in the National Football League this week. Here is a recap of how they did.
Carr and the Saints take care of business at home
The New Orleans Saints beat the Cleveland Browns 35-14 for their second straight win in a row.
Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi became the second coach in Saints history to win their first two games as the head coach.
Carr and the Saints offense were able to take control in the fourth quarter to win big.
The former Bulldog completed 21 of his 27 pass attempts for 248 yards and 2 passing touchdowns. One of which went to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling who took it 71 yards into the end zone.
With Sunday’s win, the Saints moved to 4-7 on the year and in third place of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division.
After the game, Carr spoke with NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated about how Rizzi is giving the Saints a boost similar to the one that Rich Bisaccia offered the Raiders in 2021 when he led the Raiders to a 7-5 record and a playoff berth.
“He really reminds me of that year I had with Rich,” Carr said about Rizzi. “He came in, put his spin on it and made it feel different so guys could feel something different. That’s what Riz has done. He’s done a really good job of just grabbing the attention of everybody. Real player’s coach. Has our back on everything, the schedule. He listens to us. It’s been really impressive watching him work.”
They are 4-4 this season in Carr’s eight starts. Despite their seven-game skid in the middle of the season, the Saints still have a shot at the playoffs.
And with the third easiest remaining schedule, a late season push is definitely possible.
“Honestly, we have felt the whole time like we are a really good football team,” Carr said.
The Saints now head into their bye week which should be beneficial for a team that has been battered with injuries. New Orleans next plays at home against the (5-5) Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Davante leads the Jets in receiving yards
Despite a solid outing from the former Bulldog wide receiver, the New York Jets lost 28-27 to the Indianapolis Colts.
Adams ended with 6 receptions for 72 yards in the loss. The wider receiver continues to be a trusted target of former Green Bay teammate Aaron Rodgers.
Adams’ longest play went for 24 yards on a catch and run where he was able to get past two Colts defenders.
New York will head into their bye week following the loss. The Jets next take the field against the (5-5) Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday, Dec. 1.
