After falling to the ninth ranked Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor last week, the Bulldogs head home for their first home game of the season.
The Fresno State football team is set to face Sacramento State this Saturday, Sept. 7 at Valley Children’s Stadium.
The Bulldogs will have six theme games throughout the season. Saturday’s theme is the annual Bulldog Fiesta as Fresno State celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and the Hispanic community in the Valley.
On Saturday, students can expect a big party throughout the night with Spanish music and folklórico dancers.
“There’s a pride that the community really unites and rallies around,” said Jacob Mastro, director of marketing and fan engagement.
Football games can offer students and people from around the Valley a place to escape.
“We want to give them a fun place to come and forget about day-to-day troubles and just have fun and be a Bulldog,” Mastro said.
Fresno State had three sellouts in 2023 and led all Group of 5 programs in attendance with an average of 39,939 fans per game.
The Dog Pound student section near the south endzone offers students a great place to watch the game and cheer on their fellow Bulldogs on the field.
This year, the Bulldogs are competing for the highest average attendance in the Mountain West for the third year in a row.
“We’re going to end up selling the most season tickets for students we’ve ever sold,” Mastro said.
Students looking to join the party can check their school emails to get information about purchasing tickets.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is 7 p.m. PST with tailgates starting as early as six hours before the game.
P27, a popular spot for students to park in the past, is now unavailable for all non-dorm students. Campus parking lots P1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 are open to the public.
Free shuttles are available at the roundabout near University High and will run three hours before kickoff until the end of the first quarter. Those same shuttles will take you back to the roundabout starting at the end of the third quarter and up until an hour after the game.
This week’s Bulldog Fiesta is just one of many themed games that will be happening all season long. Other theme games throughout the season include Heroes Night (Sept. 14), Boots and Buckles Night (Oct. 12), Homecoming (Oct. 26), Native American Heritage Night (Nov. 2) and Kids Night (Nov. 23).

What uniforms are the ‘Dogs wearing for each game? Would be nice to match the kids’ jerseys to the team.
