With classes now in session, and as exams come closer, students are adamant in finding local study spots in Fresno.
“Study spots are important because it allows students to have a space to themselves,” said Juliann Vang, Fresno State tutor and frequent Fresno State Library inhabiter. “Students might have a place at home or might not, so study spaces give them that little sanctuary to do what they need and whatnot.”
But what are these study spots? Here are some options.
Bab Al-Yemen Cafe
Walking into Bab Al-Yemen Cafe brings an ambiance of friendly decor, staff and conversation. Lining the walls are photos of coffee beans and their Khalyet Nahel, one of their many Yemeni sweets. In the background the sound of an oud playing can be heard.
It is quaint, personal and intimate. Not many students studying there, only a quiet conversation.

- It is a small local business
- Seating is limited to 16 seats
- Provides free Wi-Fi
Collect Coffee Bar
Located in Campus Pointe, Collect Coffee Bar holds inside and outside seating. Here, many students can be found working in pairs or completing various assignments.

- It is a seven minute drive from Fresno State
- Their hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. everyday

Component Coffee Fresno
Found in the Tower District, Component Coffee provides a space to study independently. With a consistent early schedule, this spot may suit a studious early-bird.
In addition, they have a pin board displaying many flyers for various events and businesses. This allows Component Coffee to not only be a study spot but an opening to other communities of Fresno.

- It’s approximately a 16 minute drive from Fresno State
- Their hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. everyday.
Betty Rodriguez Library
The Betty Rodriguez Library has a variety of tables and chairs to sit down and study.
Many services require a library card, but in doing so it connects the user to various satellite library branches in Fresno county.
What to know:
- It is approximately a nine minute drive from Fresno State
- Study rooms can be booked for up to eight or ten people
- Books can be purchased
- Free parking
- Offers a variety of services such as printing, scanning, craft materials and more

Fresno State Library
The Fresno State Library is easy and accessible. They have private study rooms and designated quiet areas.
“I like the hidden quiet spots to study and do homework with minimum noise,” said Vang, speaking on her favorite spot in the library.
