Students are headed back to classes for the first day of instruction for the Fall 2024 semester, which means that there are a lot of newcomers on campus.
Where your classes are, where the best study spot is and how you can use campus resources are questions we all asked when we were incoming students.
The Collegian staff brings you the best tips, tricks and motivation to survive the new school year.
- If you go to Starbucks on campus, give yourself some extra time since there is usually a line.
- Know where your classes are located ahead of time. Use the campus map or Google Maps to locate them.
- Get free snacks and food at the Amendola Family Student Cupboard using your student ID or ID number.
- The Laureate Lab in the library is a quiet place to do homework or nap.
- Get to campus at least one hour early if you’re driving. Parking is a nightmare.
- The career development center is a helpful resource for all. They can help you with developing a resume, career exploration, job/internship search and much more.
- If you live on campus, you get Bulldog Bucks money on your ID card that you can use for the food courts. To check your balance go to your student portal.
- Attend football games in the student section for the best experience. You can buy a student season ticket for $30 that gets you into every regular season home game.
- Utilize the Student Health Center for check-ups, mental health services or even low-cost over the counter products.
- You can receive tutoring and proofreading for your papers in the basement of the library at the Writing Center.
- Be careful about what vending machines you use. Some just eat your money. If they do, report it.
- College isn’t that hard at first. So enjoy your time early on.
- Early birds get the worm, so no matter what time you have class, getting a head start on the day is always a good idea.
- Make friends during your four years of college. It will be extremely helpful for having fun, completing assignments, and for mental health.
Good luck this semester, Bulldogs!
