Black Excellence in Science and Technology (BEST), an organization at Fresno State, is calling out to the community to help fundraise, participate in various activities and stay for a concert by Fashawn.
The BEST Concert of 2024 will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Delta located on 2974 E. Butler Ave. The event serves as a fundraiser and vendor fair.
BEST is the vision of Fresno State students and faculty, who have come together to create an organization that supports Black students in various STEM fields. All net funds go toward the organization to continue their mission of bringing racial equality to STEM education and the workforce.
From the start of the event until 6 p.m., guests will be able to browse the vendor fair and enjoy the various activities and demonstrations taking place every hour, including:
Free art lessons from local artist Astro
Dance demonstrations from the Fresno State Red Wavettes
Dance demonstrations from Golden Charter Academy Steppers and Freedom Dancers
Physics and Earth Science demonstrations from Fresno State STEM departments
Interactive African drum circle
Poetry
Mini ramps and skate rails by Sifu Skate Shop
The capstone of the evening will be the concert by Fresno-born rap icon Fashawn with special guest Marques Anthony. The concert will begin at 6 p.m., and ends at 8:30 p.m.
